It began with conversations about how to find the find the best deals.  One of us shared a local treasure (now out of business) where you could score great deals on designer clothing.  Another shared a great deal on a pair of jeans - $60 for a pair of basic, perfectly-fitting jeans.  We kept on sharing these tips until we realized that it would be so much easier if we had a place where we could post all of this information online.

And we've spent the past year talking about the need for one place to share the wealth on the web. Not just coupons, not just a deal of the day, not just articles. Everything, all up, one-stop shop for finding and sharing deals.

All this talk about the new economy…deals of the day on the local news. New terminology like “frugalista” or “cheap chic” or “budget busters” or “tactics for tough times” everywhere you turn. It’s time to come together and share savings. Go ahead, talk amongst yourselves! You know best!

But what's with the name?

it's not only fun to say, but - and we know you need this for online cred - you can also "verb-atize" it... as in "did you whittle that deal?"

....so, whittle + walla = a person involved with reducing prices!! (a.k.a. whittler!)
